Roof Purlins

Roof purlins provide an efficient and lightweight supporting structure between the primary steel frame and sandwich panel roofing systems.

We provide cold-formed steel purlin solutions tailored to the roof geometry, structural layout, design loads and selected sandwich panel system. Roof purlins are supplied as an integrated part of our sandwich panel roofing scope.

Roof Purlins

Structural Design & Profile Optimisation

We provide structural calculations for roof purlin systems, allowing the profile type, section size, steel thickness, spacing and span arrangement to be selected according to the actual project loads and structural conditions.

The objective is to develop a structurally efficient and cost-effective solution, optimising steel consumption while maintaining the required structural performance.

Z-Profile Purlin Systems

Cold-formed Z-profile purlins combine relatively low self-weight with efficient structural performance, making them particularly suitable for repetitive roof layouts and large roof areas.

Depending on the structural concept, Z-purlins can be designed as single-span or continuous multi-span systems, with overlapping profiles at supports where required. This allows the structural system to be adapted efficiently to different spans and loading conditions.

Designed Together with the Sandwich Panel Roof

The required purlin spacing, profile, span arrangement and connection details depend directly on the roof geometry, structural loads and the selected sandwich panel system.

Because we supply the purlins together with the sandwich panel roofing system, both can be engineered as one solution. This allows purlin spacing and structural arrangement to be optimised according to the actual panel system rather than treating the supporting steel and roof panels as separate packages.

Connections & Structural Detailing

Our scope can include the necessary purlin layouts, connection details, cleats, bridging and other project-specific components required for the complete purlin system.

Connections are coordinated with the primary steel structure, while the purlin layout and upper support conditions are developed around the requirements of the sandwich panel roofing system.

Supply & Installation

Roof purlins are supplied and installed as a sandwich panel roofing scope, either together with our load-bearing steel structures or integrated with an existing primary structure.

By supplying both the purlin system and sandwich panel roof, we can coordinate structural requirements, purlin layout, connections and panel installation as one integrated solution.

Where our scope also includes the primary load-bearing steel structure, the steel frame, roof purlins and sandwich panel roofing system can be coordinated from design through to installation.

One Optimized Roof Structure

Considering the primary steel frame, roof purlins and sandwich panel system together allows spans, profile sizes, spacing and connections to be optimized as one structural system.

The result is a cost-effective roof structure with optimized material use, compatible interfaces and efficient installation.
