Secondary Steel
Secondary steel is an integral part of many façade, roofing, glazing and other building systems we deliver, providing the additional supports and connection points required between these systems and the building's primary structure
Our approach is adapted to the project setup and the structural design already in place. Whether we work with an existing structural design or develop the load-bearing steel structure within our own scope, the secondary steel can be coordinated with the systems we deliver.

Working with an Existing Structural Design
Where the design of the primary load-bearing structure is outside our scope, we work with the structural design provided for the project.
We provide the necessary technical input for our systems, including required support locations, connection requirements, relevant loads, geometry and other installation-specific information. Where useful, we can also provide sketches and technical guidance to support the development of a practical secondary steel solution.
Once the secondary steel has been defined within the structural design, we can take it forward with detailed fabrication drawings where required, fabrication, delivery and installation as part of our wider project scope.
Integrated with Our Load-Bearing Steel Design
Where our scope includes engineering of the building's load-bearing steel structure, the required secondary steel can be developed as part of the same structural solution.
This allows the primary frame, secondary steel and the systems we deliver to be considered together from the design stage. Our engineering scope can include the required structural calculations, 3D modelling, connection design, detailing and fabrication documentation.
Developed Around the Systems We Install
Secondary steel requirements are determined by the actual systems being supported. Depending on the project, this can include façade support structures, framing around openings, roof-related supports, supports for glazed structures, bespoke brackets, connection plates and other project-specific steel components.
Because we also install the systems that depend on these structures, we can provide practical input regarding support positions, connection points, tolerances, installation access and erection sequence.
Fabrication, Delivery & Installation
Once the secondary steel solution has been structurally defined and approved, we can coordinate its fabrication, delivery and installation together with the systems it supports.
Components are fabricated through our network of trusted and experienced manufacturing partners according to the approved project documentation.
Where secondary steel is delivered together with our façade, roofing, sandwich panel or glazed systems, the different packages can be coordinated as one installation scope, helping ensure that the required supporting structures are ready for the systems that follow.
