Trapezoidal Roofing Sheets

Deep-profile trapezoidal sheets can span between supporting steel members while providing the load-bearing substrate for the subsequent layers of the roof system.

Selecting the appropriate profile geometry, steel thickness and support arrangement allows the solution to be optimised according to the required spans and design loads. In suitable applications, this can reduce intermediate supporting steel and contribute to a more efficient overall roof structure.

We provide structural calculations for trapezoidal roof sheets, allowing the profile, steel thickness, fastening pattern and support arrangement to be selected according to the actual project requirements.

Rather than simply selecting a heavier profile, we optimise the solution according to the design loads, required spans and supporting structure, helping achieve a cost-effective solution with efficient material use.

Where required by the structural concept, trapezoidal roof sheeting can also be designed and calculated as a structural diaphragm, transferring in-plane forces through the roof plane and contributing to the overall stability of the building.

By considering vertical loads, spans, structural diaphragm action, supporting structure and connection requirements together, the complete roof structure can be optimised rather than designing the sheeting based on span capacity alone. Where applicable, diaphragm action can also help reduce the need for additional roof bracing.

Our engineering scope can also include the sheet layout, support positions, fastening patterns, overlaps and project-specific details, with particular attention to openings, penetrations, roof edges and other areas requiring additional structural consideration.

Trapezoidal sheets are commonly used as the structural base for built-up insulated roofing systems, supporting the subsequent vapour control, thermal insulation and waterproofing layers.

When included within our complete roofing scope, the sheeting can be coordinated with the supporting steel structure, insulation build-up, roof membrane, drainage, penetrations, roof openings and other roof components.

Trapezoidal roof sheets can be supplied and installed as a standalone scope or integrated with our load-bearing steel structures, roof purlins and complete roofing systems.

Large-format profiled sheets allow substantial roof areas to be installed efficiently. When delivered within our wider roofing scope, the supporting structure, trapezoidal sheeting and subsequent roof layers can be planned as one coordinated construction sequence.
